Applicants of any age and of any nationality are eligible, only one application may be sent per candidate. Candidates must comply with the following eligibility criteria at the call deadline:
Mobility requirements
Incoming candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain for more than 12 months in the last 3 years before the call deadline. Exceptions are made for careers breaks/researchers at risk (contact us for more information, such support will be addressed on a case by case basis when properly documented and motivated by the applicant).
Doctoral degree
Candidates must have gained a PhD degree in the previous four years -at the date of application -with exceptions for careers breaks/researchers at risk.
Research experience
Applicants must at the time of the call deadline be in possession of a doctoral degree or have at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience. Candidates must have at least three publications in internationally peer-reviewed journals at the time of the call deadline. Variations of the chronological order in the CV will not be penalized.
Research themes
Applicants will be able to freely choose a research topic and the appropriate host organisation and supervisor fitting their individual needs. A full list of research topics is published in the IDEAL website, focus will be given on cross-programme research themes.
Secondments
All applicants will be encouraged to include elements of cross-sectoral mobility and interdisciplinarity in their applications such as an intersectoral secondment (between two and six months) with a Partner Organisation that will be accord with their research.
Ethics eligibility
Those applications that indicated any ethical issues in their review will need to include an ethics statement with additional information. In this case, the IMDEA Research Support Office will check whether these issues have been adequately addressed and may ask for further information before reaching a decision.
