Applicants of any age and of any nationality are eligible. Candidates must comply with the following eligibility criteria at the call deadline:
Mobility requirements
Candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain for more than 12 months in the last 3 years before the call deadline.
Research experience
Candidates must be doctoral candidates, i.e. not already in possession of a doctoral degree at the time of the call deadline.
Curriculum Vitae
Candidates need to submit their CV in the Application Form template provided in the download area.
Degree certificates
At the time of application, candidates must provide the Degree Certificates or proof that they will be gained by the fellowship starting date.
Reference letters
Two reference letters will be requested at application stage and will form part of the evaluation criteria.
Language
Applicants must have a demonstrable level of English (B2 or higher).
Motivation statement
Applicants can freely choose a research PhD project and associated supervisor that fits their individual research interest. Applicants will be asked to articulate in their motivation statement their research interests, as well as medium term career objectives. Secondments
Secondments will be compulsory elements of a project and will last between 3 and 6 months. Choice will be given based on interest for the PhD thesis project including outside Spain that may lead to an ‘International Doctorate’ certification, when the University awarding the title allows this and the conditions for such certification are met. IMDEA Nano will offer secondments at relevant Partner Organisations and will also support new strong partnerships in a research project leading up to a secondment.
Ethics eligibility
The Horizon Europe Ethics Self-Assessment Form will be provided to applicants in the download area. Any ethically relevant issues should be identified there. Candidates should seek support from the relevant PhD supervisor to complete the form. All IDEAL PhD projects will be screened for ethics before the implementation phase.
The IDEAL PhD management team will act as an information point for solving any question that may arise during the application process. Candidates will be able to access all supporting documents at the IDEAL PhD website for their applications.
