The GBA has been recognized as playing an important role in the development and progression of certain neurological conditions and neurodegenerative diseases. However, the mechanisms underlying the GBA bidirectional communication are still largely unknown. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Hence, this project is intended to study the GBA to improve our understanding of the nature of its bidirectional communication. For this, a GBA on a chip model will be created to host the corresponding neuron and bacteria cultures. The bioelectrical signals arising from bacteria will be monitored by <em>in situ<\/em> integrated electrochemical sensory elements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>This project will be implemented as collaboration between IMDEA Nanociencia and the Faculty of Biology at the Complutense University of Madrid in collaboration with Dra. Celia Herrera Rincon who is an expert on GBA and complex biological systems, and with Dr. Jorge Trasobares that has large experience in the electrochemical sensing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text disabled_on=&#8221;off|off|off&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.18.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;||29px|||&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h2><strong>POSITION DESCRIPTION<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>A typical background would include experience and knowledge on microfluidics and biophysics. Previous experience in constructing organ on a chip devices and cell culture on a chip will be very valuable. We expect the successful candidate to be highly motivated in advancing science through a multidisciplinary approach.
